“This book is my offering—a bridge between prayer and action.” — Charles D. Lamadine

Greetings to all,

I am Charles D. Lamadine, a native son of Liberia, West Africa. I was born and raised on Liberian soil—a place where I tasted the goodness of life, walked through the in-between moments, and endured the not-so-good seasons that shape a person’s soul. Like millions of Liberians, my story carries both joy and sorrow.

In the midst of it all, our beloved nation endured fourteen years of brutal civil war and rebel incursions, a tragedy that claimed the lives of more than a quarter of a million people. It was one of the most challenging chapters in the history of Africa’s oldest republic. During those years, I faced multiple near-death experiences—moments that could have ended my journey before it truly began. I fled from one border to another, seeking safety as a refugee in Ivory Coast, Guinea, and Ghana, holding tightly to hope when everything else felt lost.

In 2004, when the Canadian Government opened its arms to me, I found not only refuge but a new beginning. Canada gave me a home, a chance to rebuild, and ultimately the honor of becoming a citizen. With that blessing came a conviction—the time had come to give back.

From this calling, The Liberia Inclusion and Literacy Foundation (LILF) was born. LILF is more than an organization; it is a promise—a promise to stand with the destitute, the disabled, the vulnerable, and the marginalized members of our communities. Our mission is to restore dignity, open doors of opportunity, and rebuild lives through education, inclusion, and compassionate service.

Today, I extend my humble request to you:
If you come across this website, if you hear the name LILF, or if our mission touches your heart—please join us.

Join us in lending a hand to humanity.

Join us in bringing hope where hope has been lost.

Join us in transforming lives, one community at a time.

Together, we can turn pain into purpose, struggle into strength, and dreams into reality—for Liberia, and for every soul who deserves a chance at a better life.

Thank you, and welcome to the Liberia Inclusion and Literacy Foundation.
